Comparison
Looking for a Spark Membership alternative?
Martial arts and kickboxing, sold on sales and follow-up. Here is where each of us is stronger, with prices we checked on 31 August 2026 and the sources listed at the bottom.
The difference that is not a feature
Most membership platforms tell you how many members you have. Very few tell you why they leave — and that is not a screen somebody forgot to build, it is a consequence of how long they have been keeping records and in what shape.
Black Belt CRM has been running membership businesses since 2011 and keeps the whole record: every status change, every promotion, every attendance mark, every payment. That is what makes cohort retention curves, tenure at cancellation and churn as a rate possible. A platform holding two years of shallow data cannot produce them by adding a report.
What Spark Membership does better
Their lead follow-up and sales pipeline tooling is the centre of their product, and they have built it out further than we have.
Sales tooling wins the member. Retention reporting keeps them. We argue the second is where the money is, but a business that cannot fill a class first should weigh that.
Where we are stronger
Their pricing is flat, and they present that as the advantage. Run it against ours at the sizes real businesses actually are. Up to 25 members we are $39 against their $199. At 26–100, $59. At 101–250, $85. At 251–500, $125. At 501–1,000, $155. Past 1,000, $195 against $199. There is no size of business at which their flat price is the cheaper one, and a business with 60 members pays us about $1,700 a year less. Extra locations are $39 with us against $49.75 with them. Flat pricing is simple for the vendor; it is only a good deal for the customer at the top of the range.
If your bottleneck is converting enquiries rather than keeping members, their focus matches your problem more closely than ours does.
Pricing, side by side
Spark Membership: Flat monthly, not by member count. An Ignite tier adds per-location pricing.

Switching
The trial runs 30 days, asks for no card, and switches every feature on. Bring one program across and run it alongside what you have — that is a more honest test than any demo, including ours.
One thing we will not pretend about: we have no import tool. Moving your records across is manual work today. If somebody tells you migration is effortless, ask them to show you.
